History
Holy Angels’ Senior Secondary School, Sahibabad, has a legacy that began on July 17, 1975, when its doors opened in a modest rented house at Shyam Park Extension with only six students and one teacher. What started as a humble dream soon grew into one of the most reputed ICSE schools in Ghaziabad and NCR. The founding visionary, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth, O.F.M. Cap., inspired by the Franciscan values of simplicity, service, and compassion, sowed the seeds of an institution that continues to thrive under the cherished motto, “Lightened to Enlighten.”
The early years were marked by determination and faith. In 1976, the Ghaziabad Improvement Trust (now G.D.A.) granted 1.75 acres of land in Rajender Nagar, Sector III, allowing the school to take root in its own soil. This significant milestone laid the foundation for a journey of excellence that would span generations. Despite the challenges of building from scratch, the vision of the founders and the perseverance of the community transformed the school into a beacon of learning for Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, and the wider National Capital Region.
A landmark achievement came in 1986, when the school received official affiliation from the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Just a year later, in 1987, the first batch of ICSE students graduated successfully, setting a high standard for academic excellence that Holy Angels
continues to uphold. The introduction of the ISC curriculum further strengthened its academic offerings, making it one of the most trusted co-educational Christian minority schools in Western Uttar Pradesh.
Over the decades, Holy Angels flourished under the leadership of visionary principals. After Rev. Fr. Hyacinth, the baton of leadership passed to Rev. Fr. Peter Celestine, Rev. Fr. Mathew Thazhathuveettil, Rev. Fr. Paul Koodapuzha, Rev. Fr. Mathew Ullatt, Rev. Fr. John Prakash, and Rev. Fr. Antony, each of whom contributed to the school’s growth. Their efforts brought not only physical expansion but also academic and spiritual enrichment.
The 1990s marked another era of progress. With the tireless efforts of the friars and management, an additional 3 acres of land were secured in 1992, with the final lease signed in 1997. This expansion paved the way for new facilities, including the Silver Jubilee Memorial Block, modern classrooms, and advanced infrastructure. Over time, the campus evolved into a vibrant space featuring well-equipped science laboratories, a computer lab, Robotic and AI lab, audio-visual room, recording studio, a spacious library, and extensive sports grounds.
Today, Holy Angels’ Senior Secondary School stands tall with over 2,600 students and more than 100 dedicated staff members. Its journey from six students in a rented house to a thriving institution is a story of resilience, vision, and faith. The school not only focuses on academic excellence but also emphasizes emotional, moral, physical, and spiritual growth, making it one of the best ICSE and ISC schools near Delhi.
More than just an institution, Holy Angels is a community of learning and transformation, welcoming students from all walks of life irrespective of caste, creed, or background. Its enduring mission is to nurture intellect with integrity,
combine knowledge with compassion, and prepare students to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
From a humble beginning in 1975 to its present stature, the history of Holy Angels’ Senior Secondary School is not merely a timeline of events but a testament to visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and the light of education that continues to inspire generations.
